Gorge Trip '04!
This page is chronicling one of the most awesome water ski vacations ever!  Yes, ever.
Eric Paulson, a super-awesome friend from Astoria, Oregon, who we met on a Youth Rally down there when we stayed at his house, and who hosted other adventures...to Mount Hood, and Washington, DC... put on this whole trip!
He generously brought his motor coach full of food and fun and pulling a trailer that was a work of art - very beautiful art - one ski boat and 4 jet skis.
-Destination:  Crescent Bar Resort, just outside Quincy, Washinton.
-Weather:  Hot and beautiful with a refreshing breeze in the evenings.
-Campsites:  The best in the whole place - reserved special for that reason
     -Fun:  On a scale of 1-10.....  42

This is Bryan on the biggest waverunner.  It was like a rocket.  It was a fast one...

Thank You SO Much Eric!!

Eric, your kindness and generosity was a testimony to all of us!  It was also a special time with those that are leaving - Amos to the Philippines, Sarah getting married and moving to NC, etc.  It was a time we will never forget!  God bless you!

The fun begins...  Mikal on slalom....luke on the wakeboard.....wait, who's driving? = )
Here is the head-turner.  The picture doesn't show half of it.  We had an awesome time driving from Astoria to Crescent Bar in it.  Click for larger view.

The trailer had a hydraulic lift on it so it would let the boat off and then set the two top skis in the water.  It was custom built by Lektro, Eric's company.
Mikal Hansen did a great job as our main boat driver for the weekend!

The water that we were on was the Columbia River so it was endless skiing and never crowded.
More Pictures!!
Look at this setting!!!  It was so beautiful!  Some of the guys slept outside all week.  We had good campfires at night with singing, sharing, and reflecting on the day.  Mornings were calm and glassy on the water, rewarding the first ones out.
One of the many highlights of the trip was the drag contest.  See how long you can be pulled behind the boat with no skis at full throttle.  It's a riot.  You gotta have the rope nice and short, too so you can see the expressions on the faces of the ones being dragged.  Tie your shorts tight.  Below, Kayla is smiling as she demonstrates the drag technique on her stomach.
Above - Esther kept an eye on Eric's dog Sabatian during the week.  He loved playing fetch in the water.

Right - One day we went cliff jump/diving at an awesome place we found.  Deep water, picturesque rocks, and any height you could ever want.

        Here's the crew...all except 5.
